2014 Final Race Details
Final race details will be updated 2 month prior to race date, but use the 2014 for all references.
The Fifth Annual Cremator 50 Mile Ultra Marathon will take place on Saturday July 18, 2013 and will begin at 6:00am in Beaufort, SC.
This 50 Mile Endurance race is not for the faint of heart as this event takes place in the deep south during the peak of the summer when average temperature reach the upper 90's on a cool day. The extreme humidity of the Lowcountry is what catches most people off guard pushing the Heat Index well over 115 degrees. This race is a 100% road course which is very flat (except for the bridge) and VERY exposed. The course was chosen based on the limited amount of shade that can be found along the course.
The 2015 Race will feature our Double Cremator Challenge and a new Triple Cremator Challenge. Run the Cremator 50 mile course on Saturday and rise from the ashes and run it again on Sunday and the bravest of the brave will come back and do it again on Monday! Complete the Double and you'll limp away with one of the HOTTEST buckles you've ever seen! A very special award worthy of a Triple Cremator finish will be presented to those few running able to complete this feat in the required amount of time.
The 2015 Cremator Ultra will take place in Beaufort, SC and will include two 25 mile loops over the beautiful Beaufort River as you cross the new McTeer Bridge, stretching across the outlying marsh through Frogmore, a town as seasoned as the Lowcountry-Stew full of Shrimp, Corn, sausage and potatoes which was first mixed up here, and brought to a ranging boil similar to heat that runners will face during the peak hours of the day.
All runners MUST have a dedicated Crew Chief that will support the runner during the event. The Crew Chief will have final say regarding the runner's ability to continue the race due to the extreme weather conditions. Last year the Heat Index maxed out at 121 degrees with asphalt temperature reaching 138 degree. Crew chief's must travel from point to point on the race course to support their runner/ Team. They may do so in a vehicle or on a bicycle. Support MAY NOT be given to a runner from a moving vehicle or any kind. All traffic laws must be obeyed.
Summer running can be done safely with the proper training, preparations and support. Fully stocked and manned Aid Stations will be provided at the start of the race (0 miles and 25 miles) and at the turn around point (12.5 miles and again at 37.5 miles) there will also be a hydration tent located at the mid-point of each lap (6 miles, 19 miles, 31 miles, 44 miles) stocked with cold water, ice, and HEED.
The Race will begin at 6:00am and will have a 14 hour cut off on day one, a 13 hour on day two and a 14 hour on day three. Racers must complete their first lap prior to the cut off time or they will not be allowed to continue.
